A morning of compassion in action. Walk with us beside the East River, then share a vegetarian lunch, talks, and Dharma fellowship.

Compassion in Action
Join us for the 2026 Walk to Feed the Hungry, organized by Buddhist Global Relief (BGR). This community event brings Buddhists and friends of Buddhism together to express compassion through meaningful action.
The walk will be led by Ven. Bhikkhu Bodhi, founder and chair of Buddhist Global Relief. Participants will walk peacefully through Astoria Park near the East River, followed by a vegetarian lunch, talks, and an opportunity for Dharma fellowship.
Millions of people around the world continue to face hunger, malnutrition, and poverty. Buddhist Global Relief works to address these challenges through food assistance, education, support for women, and sustainable agriculture initiatives.
By taking part in this walk, or by supporting someone who does, you can help transform compassion into action and contribute to creating better opportunities for people in need.
“The gift of food is the gift of life.”

Please preregister so the organizers can plan enough vegetarian food for everyone.
We warmly invite members of our meditation community, friends, families, and anyone interested in compassionate action to take part.
If you are unable to attend, you can still join in by supporting Buddhist Global Relief through a donation, or by creating a fundraising page to help BGR continue its work around the world.
Since 2010, Buddhist Global Relief's Walks to Feed the Hungry have brought Buddhist communities and friends of Buddhism together in a shared effort to relieve hunger and suffering.
